Why creating joy matters more than ever
The past couple of weeks have been challenging. I’ve been dealing with matters in my personal and family life that weren’t easy, and the things happening around the world are no piece of cake to digest either.
I am usually very diligent about managing my feeds on social media. As an HSP, this is a must, otherwise I can’t function in a way that allows me to do the work I do, or even just be a happy human being.
For the past few weeks it has been a bit more difficult, and themes leaked into the posts I saw that concerned me in a more personal way, as they touched certain areas of my life. (If you are curious, you can check out this instagram post. It’s not necessary, however, to understand this blog.)
Anyway, with all that was going on, my nervous system was highly activated for a while, and I needed, and still need, to apply all the self-care I know to ground myself in joyful and peaceful energy again.
And that’s the point of this blog post: Ground yourself in joyful energy.
CREATE JOY for yourself and those around you.
Things seem to become more and more intense around the world. The news outlets mostly don’t focus on the good stuff either – there ARE good things happening – because that wouldn’t generate the clicks and views they are hoping for.
The crazier the world, the more joy we need to create. Not just because of the proverbial butterfly wings that can initiate change on the other side of the planet – and I do believe in that – but also for us to remain strong and grounded in our lives.
The more frazzled our energy, the more fear we absorb, the more we focus on negative headlines, the weaker our nervous system gets – and the more easily we can be manipulated.

A person who is joyful and grounded is much harder to steer with fear.
This is not to negate what is happening. This is to build a strong energy of life-affirming joy as an “alternative way” of living.
And the thing is: with so much negativity being so loud in times like these, we need to create joy with intent, deliberately.
Joy raises your vibration, and when you raise your vibration, you naturally raise the vibration of your environment.
I read somewhere once: Joy is an act of resistance. To build and live joy is to build a way of living, an energy, a way of being that sidesteps what we are being fed and what tries to make us fearful.
Joy is powerful. It’s an energy of love and light. And it’s contagious. It even changes our chemistry. This is not my field of expertise, so I won’t dwell on it – but we know that research backs this up.
So join me in creating joy! Even if it’s just one little thing a day.
What brings you joy? Go and do that, right now! Even if it’s just for 5 minutes.
Qi Gong & Stillness are my way of building this energy, and I’d love to share it with you – come and join me on this beautiful path!
