Do you look forward to them, do you enjoy celebrating them?
This may not be a yes/no question. It may vary, and for some people it may change as they grow older.

I just celebrated a big one: I turned 60 a couple weeks ago.

I remember my dad preferred not even to be reminded of having a birthday. I feel his relationship to getting older was a challenging one.

I actually enjoy celebrating my birthday and I appreciate it when people remember it.

Being alive is something worth celebrating, isn’t it?

59 was an odd age for me because my mother passed away at that age. I was very aware of it when I turned 59 but thought I had dealt with whatever emotions were connected to it.
As I came closer to my 60th though I realized that there was still an underlying fear inside me – fear of maybe not surviving 59.

I know I’m not the only one who feels this way when they’re coming close to a a parent’s age at passing, especially when they died young.

Don’t you feel that the way you thought an age would look like when you were a child or a young adult is not at all what it actually feels like when you actually get there?

Aging, as we all know, can be strange. The body is changing and there are so many ideas and preconceptions, and there’s so much prejudice. But ultimately it is a very personal process and we are allowed to reshape ideas and thoughts about age that do not fit us.

I’ve heard the saying „The only alternative to aging is death.“

Conclusion: Every day we get is a gift. I want to celebrate that! I was born under the sign of the Horse.

In addition, there are five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The element I was born into is Fire — so I am a Fire Horse.

Throughout life, we move through our zodiac sign several times, each time paired with a different element. Only at 60 do we return to both our original sign and our original element.
So we come back into full support of our true nature.

Unless you grow to be 120 years old, where this would happen again, this is a once in a lifetime experience!

I don’t live my life according to Chinese astrology, but I do find it quite fascinating and I do feel an energy supporting me quite strongly these days.

In Qi Gong, we also work with the five elements. Each organ is associated with a specific element. The organs connected to spring, for instance – the liver and the gallbladder – belong to the wood element. When we support these organs, we are practicing exercises that nourish and harmonize the flow of “wood qi.”

Interested in learning more or joining us for a free trial lesson?
Check out my course page or write to me!
I look forward to hearing from you!

How is your relationship to your birthdays?
